She wasn't exactly sure if they'd been right that she was some kind of monster. But even still, the thought of harming anyone wasn't pleasant. Especially Alric. The last she'd seen of him, he'd been a little boy. She wanted to protect him from her ice, now that he'd grown to be the determined diplomat before her.
